Mercutio's Symbols and Representations
As the play goes on, it becomes clear that Mercutio is no ordinary person. His interchanging moods are unpredictable and sometimes can be amusing. Because of his constant change in mood, a mood ring is an appropiate symbol to represent Mercutio. The ring changes color as the barer changes mood, just like how Mercutio changes what his actions are when his mood changes

A domino is also a good representation of Mercutio. After Mercutio's death, the death and killing spree begins.His death sets off multiple deaths eventually casuing a domino affect between the characters. Eventually his death ropes off to kill Tybalt, Lady Montague, Romeo, and Juliet.
A jester's hat is a third symbol for Mercutio. As Mercutio is fore played in the play, this is one of the best and striking symbols for him. Jesters are commonly thought of as goofy, entertaining, and comical. Mercutio has all of these traits, along with having many dirty jokes and a dirty sense of humor. |
